At St. Michael’s Care, we take immense pride in delivering exceptional care to our residents, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and supported every day. Our dedication to high-quality, person-centred care has been recognised, and we are thrilled to share that our very own Rema Sankaran was named one of the Great British Care Awards Finalists for the Home Manager Award in both 2023 and 2024.

Recognising Rema Sankaran: A True Leader in Care

We are incredibly proud of our Home Manager, Rema Sankaran, for being named one of the Great British Care Awards Finalists in the Home Manager category. Rema has been an integral part of St. Michael’s Care for 18 years, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our residents’ needs.

Having started her career in the acute sector, working in both India and the Middle East, Rema joined St. Michael’s in 2005. Her expertise and dedication quickly earned her the role of Clinical Lead, overseeing the nursing team. When the opportunity arose, she stepped into the role of Home Manager, ensuring continuity and a strong leadership presence within our care home.

Rema’s philosophy is rooted in person-centred care, prioritising the well-being of residents while fostering a positive and inclusive culture among staff. She regularly holds staff and resident meetings, ensuring that everyone has a voice and can contribute to the ongoing success of St. Michael’s Care. Her leadership has been instrumental in maintaining our home’s high standards and excellent reputation.

The Importance of Recognition in Social Care

The Great British Care Awards not only celebrate individual achievements but also highlight the importance of the social care sector. Being named among the Great British Care Awards Finalists serves as a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of care professionals like Rema. This recognition reinforces the value of high-quality care and the positive impact it has on residents and their families.

A Bright Future for St. Michael’s Care

While Rema may not have taken home the top prize, to us, she is already a winner. Her commitment to our residents, staff, and the broader community is truly commendable. As we look ahead to the future, we remain dedicated to upholding the values that have made St. Michael’s Care a trusted and respected care provider.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Rema and all the Great British Care Awards Finalists who continue to inspire and elevate the standard of care across the UK. Their hard work and dedication are what make care homes like St. Michael’s a home away from home for so many.
